THe Bryant Center Journey!
The renovation has been a project that many different student groups, staff, faculty and administration have collaborated on for several years now. Below, you can see some of the steps that have been taken to not only empower the student body, but truly allow the whole campus to come together and create a space that everybody will be excited for and proud of upon completion. To the right you can see a picture of the first floor of the Bryant Center before the renovations began, an area known as "The Pit".
Student Center Visits - Different groups of Student Senators and BC managers with professional staff have visited other student centers in order to bench mark the services and environments created on other campuses by student centers. Most recently, in the summer of 2012, a group of professional staff and BC managers visited the student centers at Central Connecticut State University, Wesleyan University and Hartford University through a program hosted by ACUI (Association of College Unions International)
Architect Presentations - Throughout the 2012-2013 school year, Dr. Eakin facilitated a presentation and discussion with the architects from Ewing Cole, the design firm creating our new building. Student Senate, Bryant Center Managers and E-Board members of other Major Organizations on campus were invited to provide feedback and insight on their thoughts on the plans.
President Machtley's Presentation to the Student Body - In October of 2012, President Machtley and Dr. Eakin presented the floor plans and major changes our population would see to the new Student Center. This meeting packed Papitto Dining Room and provided students a time to even ask administration questions they might have about the new building.
